Bicycle SA have issued the following notice.
-
- “Bicycle SA has received a number of reports from riders of wire and other dangerous objects, including bricks, being placed across the Coast to Vines Rail Trail, between Marino and Willunga, south of Adelaide. These objects have allegedly been deliberately placed across the trail in a way that poses a serious threat to riders and other trail users. Reports of barbed wire strung between posts have been received.
We have passed on the reports to the SA Police and the City of Onkaparinga. the SA Police have responded by referring the matter to their intelligence unit; and they will also get their Bike Patrol to check and monitor the Coast to Vines Rail Trail. At this stage the City of Onkaparinga has not confirmed their response, but we have been informed they are considering having their Crime Prevention Team run surveillance along the trail; and working with their maintenance department to monitor the site.
