Although a relatively short shared path, the Lockington-Kotta Rail Trail provides an active transport corridor for people to get between the two towns. It is a safe and shady route for walkers, joggers and horse riders. Most sections are suitable for hybrid and gravel bikes but other parts could get muddy over winter as the surface is currently dirt. The Lockington-Kotta Rail Trail Committee have received a $45,000 grant from Regional Development Victoria to go towards putting gravel on the rougher sections. Lockington has a wide range of shops and at the Kotta Station site is a large park with date palms, mature peppercorn trees, native cypress and casuarina trees providing bird habitat.
