Snapping Tasmania’s Newest Stretch of Rail Trail
Cradle Coast Authority launched a photo competition for images that highlight the scenery, amenity or activity along northern Tasmania’s Shared Coastal Pathway.
Part of this pathway, the North West Tasmanian Coastal Cycleway, follows an active railway line from Devonport to Burnie and then is a true rail trail to Wynyard.
The newest addition between Wynyard and Cooee was completed in October 2024. This 13.2 km section saw the disused rail line updated into a 2.5 m wide path. It also involved the revamping of an old rail bridge.
