Register for news updatesExciting news for people wanting to stay a while and take in the views and food along the Camperdown to Timboon Rail Trail. As reported in the Warrnambool Standard, a planning application for two cabins has been lodged with Corangamite Shire, providing a distinctly rural accommodation option along the trail. Situated adjacent to the rail trail’s spectacular Curdies River trestle bridge the cabins will be a short 5km ride out of Timboon allowing access to the culinary and historic interests of trail users.
The 30km Camperdown-Timboon Rail Trail flows along the beautiful rail easement and through the Cobden Golf course on its way to Timboon. It gives users a closeup view of the bridges along the trail as it deviates and runs beneath the old bridges and back up onto the rail line. There are even places where, uniquely, the tracks and sleepers are still in place adding to the fun of the ride. The highlight of the trail is crossing the Curdies River trestle bridge as you near Timboon.
The trail has also recently been extended 19km from Timboon to Port Campbell giving trail users north and south options from Timboon. This is only one of the beautiful rail trails across South Western Victoria, come down and experience the region.
