The Boorowa Galong Rail Trail group, led by President Jim Ryan, has been successful in achieving around half the funding needed to do a feasibility study of the proposed rail trail, but more is needed to get to this important first step in rail trail design.
In advocating the likely benefits of the Boorowa-Galong rail trail, Mr Ryan has drawn a clear comparison with the success of the Tumbarumba to Rosewood Rail Trail (TRRT) further south in NSW. The Boorowa-Galong rail corridor is a similar length at 29km, runs through beautiful rolling countryside, and is close to great tourist facilities and to the Canberra population base. It is a recipe that would bring similar social and economic benefits to Boorowa and Galong that TRRT has brought to the Snowy Valleys region.
The Galong Progress Association has agreed to donate $20,000 to help fund the feasibility study. Rail trails supporters around Australia can assist by adding their voices and comments to the news item recently published by Twin Town Times about Boorowa-Galong at https://twintowntimes.com.au/_/2021/12/boorowa-to-galong-rail-trail-proposed/ or on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/Twintowntimes
Rail Trails Australia supports the work of Boorowa Galong Rail Trail Inc, and hopes that the feasibility study will move forward early in 2022.

How can we contribute to this project? Regards, Fred.
Hi Fred, apologies for the delay in replying. There are two main ways to assist – firstly, by writing to the Hilltops Council to support the rail trail. Secondly I can put you in contact with the Boorowa Galong group who are advocating this trail.
Let me know if you would like to have further chat on the phone.
