Paul Baker, an enthusiastic rider who is aiming to ride every rail trail in Victoria in 2023, recently rode his 29th Rail Trail on Saturday, 3 June. On a very inclement cool Saturday morning he was greeted by a few members of the Friends of the Bendigo-Kilmore Rail Trail (FBKRT) at Lake Weeroona in Bendigo and the Central Victoria Representative of Rail Trails Australia, Jenny.
Paul and his support rider, plus two members of FBKRT, set off just after 10.15am and enjoyed riding the 49km O’Keefe Rail Trail through to Heathcote, meeting other FBKRT members along the way.
Paul hopes to complete all the rail trails by September 2023 and so far is having an awesome time discovering all the various landscapes, terrain and different trail conditions. He purchased the Rail Trails of Victoria guide book to assist him planning his rides.
Paul has planned that rail trail ride numbers 30, 31 and 32 will be happening on Saturday, 17 June and he invites riders to #comerailtrailwithme on the day. He will be commencing at 10am at the Dookie Rail Trail, then heading to ride the partially open Murchison-Rushworth Rail Trail and completing the trio with the Girgarre-Stanhope Rail Trail. He is happy and keen for people to ride with him and has created an event on Facebook called The SPC Special
His profile on Instagram is paul_at_pedal_effects which will also provide updates closer to the time. He is likely to be attempting the Great Victorian Rail Trail in August so keep an eye on his social pages for confirmation.
More information about why Paul has set this goal can be found HERE.
We wish him well in his future rides and look out for when he comes to a rail trail near you.
