Girgarre Stanhope Land Protection group had a perfect day for a tree planting working bee on July 19, 2023 on the Girgarre Stanhope Rail Trail.
The ground was rotary hoed and well prepared prior to the day to make it easier to undertake the planting which was completed with a tree planter kindly lent by the Goulburn Murray Landcare Network.
15 volunteers from several community groups made short work of planting, guarding and watering 500 trees. Neighbouring Landcare groups members attended who had helped with the initial plantings in 2021 and 2022 and everyone was pleased to see the progress of their previous efforts.
Well done to everyone involved which will greatly improve the look and experience of the rail trail. It is definitely worth a visit to check out the Gargarro Botanic Garden, the fabulous newly opened Gargarro Botanic Gardens café and the Girgarre Sound Walk. And don’t forget at the other end of the trail is the Montevideo Mural and Station Park Community Art Space www.stanhope.org.au
