GENERAL INFORMATION
Trails Australia is a national body that seeks to drive the development of trail experiences for recreational and tourism outcomes. It aims to focus on three strategic key performance areas;
The South Australian Trails Taskforce is the state representative for Trails Australia and currently includes members from Bike SA, Horse SA & Walking SA.
South Australia has some of the most unique trail experiences in the country – whether it is diving, canoeing, horse riding, walking or cycling, food and wine trails or indigenous experiences, there is much to enjoy for residents and visitors alike.
It is now clear that well developed and sustainable trail networks deliver significant health, cultural, social, transport and economic benefits and very often these networks occur in regional communities, who often seek to diversify their income base as well as attract residents.
It has been determined that a need exists to take a more strategic and sustainable approach to the development of South Australian trail experiences. In that a Forum will be held that will bring together professional land managers, government agencies, researchers, trails experts as well as community groups and individuals.
The inaugural State Trails Forum will be held on Thursday July 9th at the Fullarton Park Community Centre. Two sessions will be held – from 2.00pm to 5.00pm and 6.00pm to 9.00pm – to ensure that as many interested organisations and groups can attend.
