Register for news updatesBarossa Marathon uses section of Barossa Rail Trail
The Château Tanunda Barossa Marathon is to be held on Sunday 26 May 24, starting and finishing in Tanunda. The event attracts runners from right across the world, competing in the marathon (42.2km), half marathon (21.1km), 10km and 5km events.
The marathon and half marathon course will use part of the Barossa Rail Trail between Light Pass Road and Research Road (between Angaston and Nuriootpa), in a westerly direction. Whilst the trail is not closed for the event, intending trail users might have difficulty traversing that section due to the many hundreds of competing runners. Marshalls will be positioned at both ends of the trail and intending users should follow their directions. As always, runners and walkers have right of way on the trail.
The marathon starts at 7:30am and the half marathon at 8:00am, with the first runners using the rail trail soon after 8:00am. All runners should be off the course by 1:30pm.
