Rushworth Rail Trail update
Campaspe Shire Council have recently provided an update on the Rushworth Rail Trail project which is on track for completion in June 2024.
Council were successful in obtaining a planning permit in August 2023 and in September 2023 purchased native vegetation offset credits
Local contractor Arbor Dynamics were engaged to undertake tree removals along the alignment of the 11km extension of the trail. By the end of October 2023 the tree removal project was completed with many of the larger trees donated by Council to the Waranga Basin Fish Habitat. Council have now tendered for the asphalt path works at the Rushworth end and the next step will be the tendering for the bridge repairs and 11km gravel path construction.
This project has been funded by the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program and the Bushfire Recovery Grants Program. The project is being managed by Campaspe Shire Council.
